UPDATED – Xamarin.iOS Hotfix for Watch App Submission Technical Bulletin

** UPDATE – This build now also includes a fix for HTTPClient Authentication not working correctly. The additional should also be included in Cycle 5 Service Release 3 when it goes to Stable. **

We are aware of an issue hitting iOS developers right now that we are addressing, but won’t officially be released until Cycle 5 Service Release 3 goes to Stable (likely early August). However, for those of you who need to submit Watch Apps right now and are blocked, there is a workaround that can be used, or you can try out the updated hotfix build below, which is based off the current Stable (but has not been tested by our internal QA).

Rather than delay Service Release 3 to test this specific build, we’re simply providing it for download as a temporary measure. We will be including this same patch in our Service Release 3 build as well, where QA will be testing it as part of the standard process before releasing to Stable.

Known Issues

  • [Xamarin.VS] – The above mentioned workaround for Watch App submission will not work for VS, so the below build must be used to successfully submit to the App Store.

Products Released

  • Xamarin.iOS 8.10.3.8 [Download
    • Issues Addressed:
      • 30958 – Fixes an issue with incorrect Watch App Info.plist UIDeviceFamily array preventing Watch App submission.
      • 30869 – Fixed an issue with HTTPClient Authentication not working correctly.

Preview: Xamarin Profiler 0.19

Xamarin Profiler preview 0.19 is now available for download! There have been a number of fixes since our previous preview, which have been noted below.

Please note that the Mac app bundle has been renamed (from XamarinProfiler.Mac.app to “Xamarin Profiler.app”), so the old version needs to be removed before installing this new update, so that Xamarin Studio prompts the user for the new location.

Issues Addressed

  • 31927 – Fixed an issue where the Windows Profiler would sometimes crash when selecting the mlpd-v10 file.
  • 31624 – Fixed an issue where the Mac Profiler would sometimes crash on restart.
  • 32233 – Fixed an issue with the Windows Profiler where the Display tab was not correctly disabled when drilling down the Call Tree data.

Preview: iOS 9/Xcode 7 Support – 3rd Preview

We are releasing our third preview with support for Apple’s iOS9 SDK. Even though we already released a preview earlier this week, these new builds now supports Xcode 7 Beta 4, and we wanted to get them out as fast as possible so that everyone could work with the latest Apple release.

There is no target Stable date for iOS 9 support at this time, as we have to wait until Apple finalizes and publishes their support before we can release ours. That being said, we will be doing many additional iOS 9 preview releases between now and the final Apple release, so be sure to check back and see if newer versions become available in the coming months.

As with all our preview releases, this is not a product we officially support. If you encounter any issues, we recommend filing a bug in Bugzilla.

Known Issues

  • [Xamarin Studio / Xamarin.iOS] – WatchOS 2.0 is not supported in these builds (WatchKit is supported, as it has been since Xamarin.iOS 8.9)
  • [Xamarin Studio / Xamarin.iOS] – New Xcode 7 features are not supported in these builds.
  • [Xamarin Studio / Xamarin.iOS] – OSX 10.11 is not supported in these builds.
  • [Xamarin Studio] – .ipa file samples from application loader will not always upload successfully.
  • [Xamarin.VS] – WatchKit apps will not build successfully from Xamarin.VS

2nd Alpha Release: Cycle 5 – Service Release 3

We are releasing an updated preview of our next upcoming stable release, dubbed Cycle 5 – Service Release 3, to the Alpha channel. These builds contain additional patches that were not included in the previous alpha.

As this is an Alpha preview, there are still some known issues to be aware of. These are regressions not against the current stable, but against the previous Alpha release. We’re looking to have these fixed in an upcoming preview, but felt they were not severe enough to hold back an Alpha containing fixes people may be waiting on.

Known Issues

  • [Xamarin Studio] – Support for projects created with VS 2015 is not included in this build.
  • [Xamarin.iOS] – Xamarin.Forms iOS applications may crash when launching to simulator in release mode.

Preview: iOS 9/Xcode 7 Support – 2nd Preview

** UPDATE – A newer Xamarin Studio build has been uploaded as part of this preview to address an issue with Interface.Storyboard rendering issues with the iOS Designer. **

We are releasing our second preview with support for Apple’s iOS9 SDK that works with Xcode 7 Beta 3.  We are aware that Xcode 7 Beta 4 also became available today from Apple. We are digging into it now and hope to have our Beta 4 support either later this week or early next week. In the interim, we still wanted to release our Beta 3 support, as it provides working support for Xamarin.VS, which was not included in our first preview.

We are releasing our second preview with support for Google’s Android M SDK. This build supports the Android M Preview 2 released by Google on July 9th.

There is no target stable date for M support at this time, as we have to wait until Google finalizes and publishes their support before we can release ours. That being said, we may do additional M preview releases between now and the final Google release, so be sure to check back and see if newer versions become available in the coming months.

As with all our preview releases, this is not a product we officially support. If you encounter any issues, we recommend filing a bug in Bugzilla. You can also jump into the discussions on the forum thread posted below.
